MID-CENTURY CHARACTER WITHIN AN UNEXPECTED ARCHITECTURAL VOLUME
Set on the upper level of the home, this bedroom embraces the space's height and geometry rather than treating them as limitations. The design combines warm wood, soft blue, graphic black accents, and layered neutrals to create a room that feels relaxed, collected, and distinctly modern.

DESIGN DIRECTION
Mid-century references are introduced selectively rather than literally. An iconic shell chair and sculptural wood accents bring warmth and character, while streamlined black furnishings create contrast and give the room a more contemporary edge.
The soft blue feature wall draws attention to the dramatic ceiling height and establishes a calm focal point behind the bed. Overscale artwork, pendant lighting, and a restrained mix of textures help balance the vertical proportions of the room while maintaining a sense of openness.

The result is a comfortable, expressive retreat that demonstrates how an unconventional upper-level space can become one of the most distinctive rooms in the home.
THE RESULT
Mid-Century Modern Bedroom
DESIGN DIRECTION HIGHLIGHTS
The concept balances soft, curved silhouettes with tactile upholstery, warm wood tones, dark stone, and restrained contrast. Earthy accents and Asian-inspired decorative elements add character, while a consistent material and color palette carries through the living, dining, and kitchen seating areas.

THE RESULT
The floor plan was developed around three connected functions: generous living-room seating, a comfortable dining zone, and casual seating at the existing kitchen island. A sectional anchors the living area around the television and fireplace, while sculptural lounge chairs expand the gathering capacity without obstructing circulation.

Contemporary Living + Dining
A STUDY IN SCALE, SOFTNESS, AND QUIET CONTRAST
A warm, organic modern composition connecting the living room, dining area, and kitchen seating through natural materials, sculptural forms, Asian-inspired accents, and effortless comfort.

DESIGN SELECTION HIGHLIGHTS
Designed as one continuous composition, the living, dining, and kitchen seating areas share a consistent language of soft curves, natural textures, and warm, grounded tones. The result is a layered and welcoming interior that feels cohesive from every viewpoint.
The living area is organized around conversation rather than a single focal point. Curved seating, layered upholstery, and a generous rug soften the scale of the room, while the dark fireplace wall introduces architectural contrast and visually anchors the double-height space.
Throughout, subtle shifts in texture and tone create depth without visual excess. Pale blue accents introduce a quiet note of color, echoed between textiles and artwork to connect the living and dining areas.

The result is an open interior that feels composed and substantial, yet comfortable—using proportion, repetition, and restrained contrast to bring a human scale to the architecture.
